Can you think of an animal that can grow up to be as long as your school bus? Well, here is an animal you wouldn’t want to meet – Anaconda. As intimidating as they are, you’re not likely to see an anaconda soon, except maybe in the zoo.
Anacondas live only in South America, where they hang out in rainforests near the Amazon River. They can’t move very fast on land, but they’re expert swimmers.
Anacondas are carnivorous and eat other animals. They will eat almost anything they can catch. This includes small mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish. Large anacondas can take down and eat fairly large animals like deer, wild pigs, jaguars, etc.
Anacondas are constrictors. This means that they kill their food by squeezing it to death with the coils of their powerful bodies. Once the animal is dead, they swallow it whole.
